Al Green In Austin April 24th

Are you a fan of classic 1970s soul music? If so, you don't want to miss music legend Al Green, who will be performing in Austin on Wednesday, April 24th at Bass Concert Hall.

Timeless Music

Now 73, Al Green hasn’t been touring much over the last 10 years because he's been focusing more of this time on his ministry at his church in Memphis Tennessee, but he's decided to resume his touring once again because she sees his music as a way to inspire and uplift people during these tough times.

Al Green is right, his music can definitely be considered to be timeless and inspiring because many of his songs like the classic “Let’s Stay Together” still promote unity and peace during times when our society is more fragmented than ever before.

People Still Love The Classics

Over the last 25 years, Al Green has continued to remain in the public consciousness thanks to his music being used in a wide variety of movies and television shows. Most notably, his iconic song “Let’s Stay Together” was used in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino hit Pulp Fiction, and thanks to the Internet, it’s easy for anyone to look up a song that they hear in a movie or TV show and instantly stream or download that song to their phones or mobile devices.

If you plan on attending his Austin show, you can expect Al Green to be singing the hit songs from his past because they are what people want to hear.

Over the past few decades, there’s been a resurgence of interest in soul music and Green said he feels it’s partly in response to increasing amounts of senseless violence in our country. He’s shocked and saddened by rising murder rates in cities like Chicago and his hometown, Memphis, and he was horrified by the recent synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh that killed 11 people.

While he said he feels solving the overall problem of gun violence is the responsibility of politicians, he hopes his music can do a small part to amplify the frequency of love.

One song that will definitely be on his set list is his “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” off of his 1987 album “Soul Survivor.” The song’s message seems crucial in our current times.
