Job opportunities increase as companies relocate to Austin
Even with the pandemic this year, Austin had a record-breaking number of jobs due to relocations and expansions. Austin economists say the region added 30,000+ jobs annually.

TESLA
Elon Musk announced in September he is going to create at least 5,000 jobs with his new electric vehicle factory in Austin.
The 4-5 Million SQFT facility is underway in East Austin and should up and running by 2021 and even producing Model Y Cars.
The Boring Company
In addition to Tesla, Musk is hiring for his tunnel construction company in Austin. He has only hinted at building a futuristic tunnel though, no concrete plans yet.
The company's goal is to make transportation quicker and safer by alleviating traffic and congestion. Musk is looking for top talent here in Austin, offering several job positions.
Austin's Project Connect just passed and will build 2 rail lines in the city + an underground stop in Downtown Austin.
Looks like we may be seeing a real future of mobility here in Austin.
Palantir Technologies
Co-founder Joe Lonsdale of the software company, Palantir Technologies moved here earlier this year and has now decided to move his entire firm to Austin.
He's forgoing the San Francisco Bay Area as taxes increase, growing income inequality increases, along with pollution. He finds Austin very welcoming to entrepreneurs and plans to travel less with his business in Texas now.
He has not specifically spoke about job openings yet but they could be on the horizon.
New Amazon Center
A new fulfillment center is set for 2021 in Pflugerville just north of Austin. This will create 1,000 new jobs for North Austin residents. In addition, a new facility in Round Rock was announced to invest $5.65M and add 30 jobs over the new few years.
